An 11-year-old boy was killed and five others injured in a shooting in Cincinnati, Ohio, Friday evening, authorities said.
During a press briefing Friday evening, Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge said the incident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. local time on a street in the city’s West End neighborhood, located near the city center.
Theetge said officers arrived and found one person, a man, dead at the scene. Five others were rushed to local hospitals. Their conditions have not been confirmed.
“It is absolutely unacceptable in our city, unacceptable that on a Friday night six people were shot in one incident,” the police chief said.
The deceased victim was later identified as an 11-year-old male, according to a Cincinnati police news release.
The circumstances that led to the shooting are unclear, she added. There has been no news of arrests.
Theetge said there was “no indication” of a continuing threat to the public.
