CNN cursed on live TV about the hypocrisy of the far-right MP. (R-Ga.) after the conspiracy theory-peddling lawmaker drafted a motion to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). The motion accuses Tlaib of “anti-Semitic activity” for criticizing Israel.
“The degree to which some people pretend to care about anti-Semitism only when they can use it as a weapon never ceases to amaze,” Tapper said to close Sunday’s episode of “State of the Union.”
Tapper acknowledged that Tlaib, who is Palestinian American, being criticized even by fellow Democrats For critical comments about Israel as violence escalates in the war between Israel and Hamas. But the anchor asked whether House Republicans were “really in a position to censure” Tlaib.
“The leading Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, had dinner with Holocaust deniers,” Tapper recalls. “Donald Trump released a speech accusing liberal Jews of having “voted to destroy America and Israel” last Rosh Hashanah, to silence House Republican leaders. »
Tapper then focused on Greene’s history of anti-Semitic comments.
“This is the same Marjorie Taylor Greene who promoted the Great Replacement Theory in videos, the deranged notion that wealthy Jews are trying to replace white Americans and Westerners with blacks and Muslims of color,” a- he declared. “Not to mention, of course, his Jewish space laser conspiracy in which a consortium including, yes, wealthy Jews, was using lasers on satellites to start forest fires. »
Greene also compared COVID pandemic mask mandates to the Holocaust.
“Anti-Semitism is not a stick to use against people for political reasons,” Tapper said. “Neither Islamophobia, nor racism, nor anti-homosexual behavior, nor misogyny, nor any other form of intolerance. »
“This shit ain’t no game,” he concluded.
