ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Patriotism was on full display Saturday morning during the Monroe County Veterans Day Parade.
The more than 32,000 veterans who live in Monroe County were celebrated and honored as local marching bands, law enforcement and other groups marched through the streets of the county.
A special service was also held at the Vietnam Memorial in Gary Beikirch Memorial Park to remember all those who served.
This was the second annual Veterans Day parade in Monroe County and for veteran families, it is special to have this recognition for local heroes.
“As the daughter of a veteran, it’s very heartwarming, very important and it means a lot to me because we loved our father very much and he was our hero,” said Webster resident Catherine Lennox. “So it’s good to see that everyone feels the same way about vets, I hope.”
Sheriff Todd Baxter, an Army veteran, was the parade’s grand marshal.
