LYNWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — Westbound Interstate 105 in the Lynwood area was closed Sunday afternoon as authorities investigated a police-involved shooting in the lanes.
The CHP issued a SigAlert, saying the highway is expected to remain blocked at Long Beach Boulevard until approximately 4 a.m. Monday.
The incident began around 3:15 p.m. when CHP officers were dispatched to a report of a person walking in the travel lanes of the highway.
Few details have been released, but apparently after officers arrived, they were involved in an incident described only as a police-involved shooting near the Wilmington Avenue off-ramp.
No officers were injured. Aerial footage from AIR7 HD of the blocked scene shows clothing and other objects in the middle of the tracks and what appears to be blood on the roadway.
